SEMINAR INFORMATION

Are your Hearts Larger than your Hands?

Do you feel compassion Burnout and Fatigue?

Whether we work directly with the animals or in a role that supports the mission of helping animals, all of us share loving dedication to save all of them. This work opens us up to immense joy and fulfillment and, sometimes, sadness and frustration.

Come and learn some strategies that can help you balance the happiness with the heartbreak in this special workshop led by Dr. Linda Harper, a clinical psychologist in the Chicago area for more than 30 years, and author of The Power of Joy in Giving to Animals (foreword and contributions by Faith Maloney, co-founder of Best Friends Animals Society).

Linda is a regular presenter at the Best Friends Conference and leads the Giving Heart Retreat with Faith Maloney and co-facilitates Above and Beyond: Meeting the Challenges of Special Needs Animals at the Sanctuary. She is also an international speaker at a host of shelters and conferences and facilitates the pet loss support group for the Chicago Veterinary Medical Association.

Having been an animal advocate all of her life and founder of Blessed Bonds, a foster-based organization, she understands the unique challenges of following one's passion to improve the life of animals.

A Sound Beginningâ„¢  Helping Dogs to Become Adopted, Helping Dogs to Stay Adopted

Presenters:
Julie Dorsey-Oskerka
, and Patricia Rattray, co-authors of the book/CD Adopting a Dog? Start off right with...A Sound Beginning and Leanne Falkingham Co-Author of the Karen Pryor Academy course Shelter Training & Enrichment

Combining the pre-adoption benefits of the Shelter Training & Enrichment course, and the post-adoption benefits of the book, Adopting a Dog?  Start off right with…A Sound Beginning, you can truly make a difference in setting dogs up for success and making those adoptions stick!

Learn how to transform a shelter from bare-bones concrete and chain link to a comfortable and safe haven for the dogs that live there, helping them to become more adoptable while improving the overall atmosphere for staff and volunteers.

Learn how Sound affects behavior and how adopters can benefit from following this step-by-step two-week program designed to prevent mistakes and create a positive start from the very first day they bring that new dog home!
