My daughter Olivia, she is 4 years old, helping to train her dog, Mookie. These are some behaviors that children can
teach their dog. Teaching your child how to interact with their dog will help create a safe, positive relationship.
Children love to take part in the training, and I will show you how your child can help through playing games – how
much fun that can be for all!
This is Mookie learning the "Dog Brick" game. This
scent game can be taught in my Level I.  Do you think
your dog could play this game?
Wrigley, 6 month old Labrador Retriever demonstrating the Level 1 tricks, he
learned. This was week 5 of my 6 week course, June 17, 2011.

When I first got Mookie, he wasn't too fond of going into his crate. I had to teach him by shaping him to like his crate.  Below you will
see me clicking and treating him for any interaction he has with the crate. You can see at the end of the session how he goes into his
crate.   I jackpot Mookie at the end with a bowl of treats for giving me the behavior I wanted.  With this shaping game, you have to
click and treat little approximations toward what the end behavior is. Dogs love to play the game and become very enthusiastic!
After you watch the video above, you will see the end result of the shaping game. Mookie is very willing to go into his
crate. Now I can send Mookie into his crate on cue and even from a distance. It took a little time in the beginning but
the end result is all worth it.
